Overview: 1941 Ludwig & Ludwig Top hat & Cane 14”x7” snare

Description: This is a very rare 1941 Ludwig & Ludwig Top hat & Cane snare 14” x 7”.  The drum has imperial lugs and all hardware is nickel. All the hardware on this drum is original. 
 
Condition: Considering the age of the drum I can say it is in amazing condition (see photos). The previous owner of this drum said it is all in original condition and appears to be so. I’m sure the drum sounds positively amazing when tuned right however, I have never played it (I don’t play drums more than 50 years old). It is important to know that when you receive this drum it will be detuned completely. This is to protect the instrument during shipping. That being said it is important to tune the drum properly to get the best sounding instrument. The snare throw-off works well but it does stick sometimes. The wrap on this drum looks amazing perhaps too amazing which makes me think that this could have been restored and rewrapped but I don’t know because I won’t take it apart. This is NOT a picture of this Ludwig drum but it is an example of why I stopped tinkering with drums over a certain age.
